考文垂大学位于考文垂市中心，是一所年轻、面向未来的大学，具有提供优质高等教育的传统。昔日，考文垂大学的前身， 创建于1843年的考文垂设计学校为考文垂的建设立下了功勋；今日， 占地20公顷的考文垂大学科技园成了该市的重要技术革新基地。 考文垂大学现有学生一万七千余名， 其中一千五百多名来自海外七十多个不同的国家和地区， 由此对考文垂市产生着重大影响。
考文垂大学共设有6个学院，具有从预科、本科，硕士至博士的系列培养体系。我校计算机服务部在互联网教学与研究方面投入了大量资金。 在分布于校区的各个机房中为学生提供1500多个工作站 (全部与国际互联网相连)，供学生自由使用。另外，英国最现代化的图书馆之一，按环保高标准设计兴建的考文垂大学新图书馆已于2000夏投入使用。它是考文垂大学的重要信息资源中心。

英语语言学习
考文垂大学每年署假都会开设五个星期及十个星期的学前英语课程。通过此课程，学生不但可以提高英语水平，而且还能广交朋友，更好的了解考文垂。
在学期当中大学提供多种英语课程，你可以在学习学位课程的同时学习英语。
英语课程可以作为学位课程的一部分，也可以作为独立的一门课程。

住宿服务
学校的住宿办公室可以帮助学生解决住宿问题。
学生宿舍分学校所有和学校管理两种。在学生获得入学资格后，大学会提供详尽的学生宿舍住宿信息和申请表。如果您在规定日期前（九月一日午夜之前）提出住宿申请并支付定金，学校将保证为新生安排学生宿舍。

各项设施
由于大学各场所都在一个校园内，所以学生听课换教室时不会将时间浪费在路上，而且学生课间休息或结束课程时，咖啡店、餐厅和学生会就在附近。
造价两千万英镑的新建图书馆藏书近350,000册，还有2,600种现刊。馆内有1,150个自习座位，还有CD-Rom、多媒体和因特网设施供学生使用。
学生在绝大部分时间里（包括晚间和周末）可使用计算机服务。除了一系列文字处理软件包之外，学生还可使用图像软件。不熟悉计算机的学生可上辅导课，一组咨询人员就与计算机有关的问题，每天12小时地提供服务。

学生生活
2001年9月，学生会在Cox街新开了一个场所。它是俱乐部与协会的新家，有酒吧、餐厅和娱乐设施。Universe是不售酒的场所，提供小吃和冷热饮。Chiller吧摆放着舒适的家具，白天播放着轻松的音乐，并提供饮食。Casbar是体育酒吧，用大屏幕现场转播体育比赛。最近，学生会吸引了全英最大的一些俱乐部与流行音乐歌星前来表演，如Spiller、Judge Jules、Dane Bowers、Atomic Kitten和Dave Pearce。
教士中心是大学校园内教士提供服务的场所。教士为所有信仰与传统的学生与员工提供支持。教士组织宗教和社交活动，帮助学生讨论与解决问题，并与他们信仰的代表进行联系。学期中的平日里，教士处全天开放，若有聚会或活动时则在晚上也开放。
